Selamat Ulang Tahun ke-15 STANDARDS MALAYSIA                                                                                                              Happy 15th Anniversary STANDARDS MALAYSIA

Anniversary of the 15th STANDARDS MALAYSIA

Nobody could have fathomed that 15 years ago STANDARDS MALAYSIA would reach the place it is today. With more than 6000 standards developed and three accreditation schemes, STANDARDS MALAYSIA continues to increase its impact as the national standards and accreditation body in Malaysia. However, it does not mean that STANDARDS MALAYSIA can rest on its laurels and be complacent. With the launch of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) by the Malaysian Government, International Standards and Liberalisation (ISL), was highlighted under the Strategic Reform Initiatives (SRI) as an important enabler to the New Key Economic Areas (NKEAs). This further pushes STANDARDS MALAYSIA as the custodian of standards to the forefront and emphasizes on the relevance of STANDARDS MALAYSIA’s role to the country. It is hoped that STANDARDS MALAYSIA will continue to soar to achieve its vision “Accepted by Malaysians, Recognised by the World”.

Sambutan Ulang Tahun ke-15 Standards Malaysia

A. Amit
General Secretary & CEO

On your 15th anniversary, I wish to congratulate Standards Malaysia warmly for your achievements.

Fifteen years is an outstanding milestone and the active role of Standards Malaysia has achieved as a member of ISO and in international standardization in that time is clear. Standards Malaysia now participates in255 ISO technical committees and subcommittees, as well as taking part in the activities of the ISO Committee on consumer policy (ISO/COPOLCO), the ISO Committee on conformity assessment (ISO/CASCO)and the ISO Committee on developing country matters (ISO/DEVCO).

Standards Malaysia is also playing an active and important role in the ISO governance. It can be proud of its re-election as a member of ISO Council for the term 2010-2011 and also of the ISO Technical Management Board for the term 2010-2012.

International standardization plays an important role in the economic development of a country, in being innovative and competitive in markets worldwide, and finding solutions to global challenges in the three dimensions of sustainable development – environmental, economic and societal. In this, Standards Malaysia exemplifies the theme of this year’s World Standards Day “Global confidence”, which will be celebrated on 14 October.

International Standards facilitate the growth and development of a country and Standards Malaysia is an example of how involvement in and promotion of standardization helps strengthen the national infrastructure and supports the country to benefit from the expansion of global trade and rapid changes in technology.

I wish Standards Malaysia further success for many years to come.
